
Dr. Kenneth A Beckman
MD, FACS
Dr. Beckman is a board certified ophthalmologist and cornea specialist. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. After an internship at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Beckman completed an ophthalmology residency at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Cleveland, serving as chief resident in 1994-1995. He then completed a cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery fellowship at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Beckman has been practicing ophthalmology in Columbus since 1996 and joined Comprehensive Eye Care in 2012 as Director of Corneal Services.
Dr. Beckman is a clinical assistant professor at The Ohio State University. He has participated in many leadership roles, including being past president and a founding member of the CEDARS/ASPENS, member of the ASCRS Corneal Clinical Committee, president and treasurer of the Columbus EENT society, and member of the board of directors for Prevent Blindness Ohio.
Dr. Beckman is active in clinical ophthalmology research and has been a principal investigator in numerous clinical studies involving dry eye disease, keratoconus, and ophthalmic surgery. He was the first surgeon to perform the FDA approved corneal crosslinking procedure in Ohio. Dr. Beckman has published numerous articles in the ophthalmology literature, speaks around the world at ophthalmology conferences, and serves on the editorial board on several ophthalmologic journals.
